The 980,000 square meters facility was developed in phases. Inaugurated in 2014, the first phase incorporates 98,000 square meters of convention and exhibition space, a 1,200-seat theatre, an 800-seat music hall, and a full range of banquet halls and function spaces. These are supported by a 548-key Sheraton Hotel and the 330-meter Zhuhai Tower, which accommodates a 250-key St Regis Hotel along with Grade-A office spaces. The subsequent phase opened in 2024, featuring twin towers with an additional 110,000 square meters of office spaces and a further 58,000 square meters of exhibition and convention facilities. Both phases are seamlessly connected by a ‘ribbon,’ an elevated indoor walkway that meanders throughout the site, linking all programs together.
The development’s towers are strategically placed along the waterfront to maximise tenant views and serve as a visual beacon, addressing the iconic towers of Macau and Hengqin Island across the shores. Designed for both economic advancement and public enjoyment, the facility also acts as a gateway between the city and the waterfront, offering stunning ocean views and diverse communal spaces for all to enjoy.
The crowning jewel of the design is an urban ribbon that stretches over 1,200 meter across the site, connecting each functional program and housing a series of public amenities, including F&B outlets, retail, and cultural facilities that serve visitors from both events functions and adjacent communities.
The ribbon’s undulating form emulates the sculpted shorelines of Zhuhai, harmonizing with the coastal setting. It wraps around the main buildings and creates a range of unique entry points to the functional spaces within. The ribbon also defines a series of intimate garden spaces which are key circulation areas between zones while providing sunken daylight wells to the car park drop off areas.
In the design team’s pursuit to create inviting public spaces, the development maximises its prime waterfront location with the sculptural building forms and extensive landscape features to create a dynamic public realm.
