St. Regis Hotel and Shizimen CBD Super High Rise
Zhuhai, China
The Shizimen St Regis Hotel and Office Tower is part of phase 1 of Shizimen business district in Zhuhai, China. Phase 1 consists of an exhibition and convention centre, a 5 star Sheraton Hotel, a serviced apartment block and the super high rise tower itself. 10 Design has been commissioned to redesign the tower façade to meet new planning criteria set out by the chairman of Huafa.
The tower takes a prominent position marking the meeting point of the exhibition boulevard and the water edge, acting as a beacon for the complex on the waterfront visible from both Zhuhai and Macau.
The building is designed as a sinuous form that rises up from the water as a simple fluid white glass form.

The façade is enveloped in a white ceramic frit to the eastern face providing full floor to ceiling views while also reducing the solar gain. The fritting is patterned to produce a shimmering texture to the glass surface. The sculpted twisting tower offers a shimmering reflective façade that changes character with the reflection of landscape and the sea in the changing position of the reflecting sun. The 5 Star St Regis Hotel is located in the upper 15 floors of the tower, beneath which is all commercial speculative office floors.
