We are excited to share our second project opening of the week! Today, our Principals Javier Perea, Lukasz Wawrzenczyk, and Wen Ren are in Chengdu, China, witnessing the grand opening of CIFI Chengdu Wansheng TOD.

Located at an important transportation node in west Chengdu, CIFI Chengdu Wansheng TOD is a retail and lifestyle destination comprising an 81,000 square-meter shopping mall, a retail street, a community centre and a 140 meter office tower atop the metro station.

Inspired by the Chinese character “川” which resonates with the local Jin river, the scheme is physically split up into three sections: the shopping mall and office tower sitting along the main road; a retail street facing the public park and residential neighbourhoods; and the sunken plaza hugged in between the main structures. Conveniently connected with the metro station and underground F&B zone, the sunken plaza will serve as a 24/7 public space for community gatherings, cultural and festive events. The retail street and community centre are designed with cascading green terraces, offering opportunities to invite nature into the centre of the site.

The project is set to become a vibrant retail and cultural destination for the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Chengdu, serving the district’s growing population with community and greenness at its core.
