Design Partner at 10 Design, Gordon Affleck has led on the concept for the second phase of the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (CEC) in China. The new 55,000sqm  convention centre has just topped out and will be complete in 2022 with the associated twin towers rising at 200+m in height containing hotel and office functions.

The design team has created a sculptural ribbon form to physically and visually connect the waterfront to its city. The ribbon houses a series of public functions including restaurants and retail spaces.

Being appointed for the second phase of the project has meant over 10 years of involvement from Gordon and his team since the original concept inception.

You can take a closer look at the first built phase of the project in an interview from the BBC:

The presenter interviewed Gordon and two of his fellow partners (Ross Milne and Miriam Auyeung) and talked through the significance of the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and its associated super high rise tower at 330m in height.
