Ted Givens, Design Partner of 10 Design, says, "10 Design recently initiated and organized an open international design competition with an aim to further expand a dialog about green thinking along the Suzhou Creek in Shanghai and most importantly to implement new ideas. 10 created this open platform for architectural professionals, academics, students and artists to share their visionary sustainable designs under one roof for the chosen site."

The competition was very well received and 10 Design collected 200 submission entries across 40 countries around the world. An international jury composed of magazine editors, educators, and design professionals selected the top three winners and ten shortlisted entries. The winning entries profoundly demonstrated concepts that move beyond the ordinary and address issues such as power generation, cleaning air and water pollution, and the use of innovative materials and geometries.

10 Design have just celebrated with the winners and shortlisted participants at an award ceremony held on 25th May 2012 at Bridge 8 in Shanghai.

This remarkable award ceremony has attracted over 160 guests, who included an amazing cross section of real estate developers, government, media, peers, academics and students. A representative of the jury panel from The University of Hong Kong, Stephen Lau, cited the Jury comments that evening. Also Two Associate Professors from Tongji University, Ye Hai and Zuo Yan, and the President of AIA, Christine Bruckner, gave their presentations on sustainability at the ceremony.

The winning and shortlisted designs continue to be exhibited at Bridge 8 Block 5 Atrium till the end of 30 Jun 2012. A traveling exhibit will be followed in Hong Kong then at various universities and venues around the world.

The Jury and 10 Design would like to once again congratulate the winners and the shortlisted participants and thank them for their talented design proposals.

Jury Comment: "The proposal has an excellent graphic quality and the entry shows a creative emphasis on mobility and adaptable spaces that change through time."

Jury Comment: "This design demonstrates not only the specificities of local site and ecologies but also considering the way that people use space, and how user needs changes over time."
